This Webpage is designed to inform you, the reader, about how Remote Sensing is used to aid in the analysis of Orbital Debris in Earth's atmosphere. The Remote Sensing page will teach you about what Remote Sensing is and types of data that can be created. To learn more about Space Debris, the 'What is Space Debris' page contains videos and easy-to-read information. Solutions and to see what agencies are attempting to do to fix this problem are located in the 'Solutions' tab. The last tab, 'Articles', will give you extra readings and information if you wish to learn more. Thank you and enjoy! And for FUN, Click on every Astronaut you come across! The Problem
Space Debris has become a large issue, one that can not be ignored. Remote Sensing allows us to analyze all the trash orbiting Earth, which only 10% of these particles are active satellites with the rest of the trash being dead satellites, components from old space crafts (such as Apollo 11), and even no longer used jets. These particles make the risk of collision high and provide a large hazard risk to astronauts. There are a lot of issues that could be caused by excessive space trash, such as loss of GPS signals, loss of communication, and loss of Military signals if nothing is to be done to clean or mitigate Earth's Orbit.
